This spring, efforts at Northwestern University and the University of California Davis kicked off with the acquisition of new equipment and data organization efforts.
The UC Davis team received its first data request this May while they were working hard organizing the Southern California Seismic Network’s seismogram collection in West Sacramento (figure 1). The team of students and staff members at UC Davis have been stacking and inventorying this data from 1925 through the early 1990’s. The team braved winds, dust, and 90°F+ weather but will not finish this Spring due to the onset of even hotter summer temperatures. With the recent acquisition of a new large-format data scanner, the team can now fill data requests for seismogram data through the 1970s. Look for the currently accessible inventory to be posted online soon.
