Spencer Hong, Ph.D.
Adjunct Researcher
Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
Northwestern University
Role: Spencer Hong uses the semantically enriched data extracted from the NHGRI archives to study how funding decisions are made and what attributes where predictive of which research teams were successful in proposing new organisms for sequencing.
Bio: Spencer is passionate about the intersection between language and technology. Using the latest generative and natural language models, he developed tools to investigate the impacts of decisions being made behind closed doors at senior levels of organizations. His PhD stood as the first computational investigation of a major funding agency through the lens of millions of internal documents.
