Legacy Seismic Data

Project Description

Curation of legacy seismological data begins with digitization of paper and microform records, some of which experience deterioration. Digital images of records of waveforms are turned into digital times series via metadata extraction and vectorization of waveforms. We are dedicated to accurate representation of the raw data, automation, open-source software, findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reproducibility of pre- and post-digitization and vectorization data. We are currently training our platform components on data from the World-Wide Standardized Seismic Network (LEG_DW) and the Southern California Network (LEG_CI). One of these components is being constructed upon the open-source SKATE software.
